Module 1:

Technical Aspects – Software & Hardware

Quickly, effectively and sustainably, this module introduces the art of subtitling using the most popular free software Subtitle Edit. 

We’ll also cover the other free programs and tools that are needed for subtitling which help save time and improve the quality of our work.

Module 2:

Subtitling with Subtitle Edit in theory and practice

Terms such as timecodes, frame rates & codecs, as well as the most important subtitle formats are explained in a comprehensive way.  You’ll also practice subtitling using interactive examples.

You’ll learn the basics for working with the most common streaming providers (YouTube, Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime, etc.) and be provided with the guidelines for creating subtitles in PDF format.

Module 3:

Job market, agencies and clients

Finding your niche

During the course, you’ll learn how to carry out and submit a project from start to finish.

We also show how to organize projects and how to accurately estimate working time.

Module 4:

Money Talk: pricing

Module 5:

Online presence: LinkedIn, Proz, Website, Instagram etc.

Module 6:

Networking: You’ll have the chance to network with other participants and learn strategies to improve your own profile.

Module 7:

Tools, tricks and tips

You’ll become familiar with apps and tools that enable you to transcribe videos automatically. 

We’ll learn and try out tricks & shortcuts to increase our speed with Subtitle Edit.

We’ll practice matching SRT files to post-cut videos.

We also go over the technical equipment that will help us work even more professionally and efficiently.

Live-Calls:

6 Q&As: In each Q&A session, we’ll discuss all the subjects covered in the course and answer questions. We’ll also focus on specific topics, such as social media, translation, interactive training, etc.

LANGUAGE

The language of instruction is English. We consolidate our usage of Subtitle Edit and also go into job market placement.

CERTIFICATION

All participants receive a certificate at the end of the course.
